Two BICC games were played last night at the Town Arms: in the Premier section, Dave Bogle beat Alan Armstrong; and in the Minor section, John Moore defeated Logan Symons. We will post further results as they come in.Borders Individual Championship

Grades for 2022-23
The grades for 2022-23 are now out, with the usual mix of winners and losers. Logan Symons (NHS) has come up by 98 points to 1008 and - again in the NHS team - Stasys Gimbutis has put on another 97 points to be graded 1653 this season. In the Selkirk club, Dave Bogle is the greatest improver with a 70 point leap to 1613.But by a huge distance, the greatest jump is by Kelso's Ross Blackford; Ross has increased his grade by a spectacular 381 points to become the Borders number 1 on 1827. Yes, 1446 to 1827! Very impressive from 16-year-old Ross.

We kick off the new series with pages on Stasys Gimbutis and Keith Aitchison, and more will follow shortly. As you can see, we occupy a fairly spacious room above the main bar of the Town Arms. It is a friendly club, and we always welcome new chessplayers.
