24 Apr 2024: Two championship results

A further two games were played on Tuesday 23 April in the Town Arms:  Dave Bogle beat Ian Thompson, and John Moore beat Sam Cornwell.   An updated table can be seen below.

Please note that although the Borders League is over for the season, the Selkirk Club will continue to meet each Tuesday at the Town Arms, Selkirk.  Feel free to come along for a game,  or a pint... or ideally for both!

05 Apr 2024: John Moore is champion

The fifth round of the Borders Individual Championship (Minor section) saw two key results:  John Moore defeated Gala's Keith Robinson; and Alistair Gray and Logan Symons drew their game.  Alistair had been the only player who could catch John Moore, and so John is the new champion.   Congratulations to the Selkirk Captain!

04 Apr 2024: Curry night at the Taste of Spice

Our annual curry night was held on Thursday 04 April in the Taste of Spice, and (as always) the food and drink were first class. A thoroughly enjoyable evening in one of the best restaurants in the area.

The Taste of Spice is in Market Place, Selkirk, and offers a wide selection of Indian and other food.

Selkirk Chess Club meet every Tuesday at 7pm in the Town Arms, just off Selkirk Square.  We do not meet in the bar itself but in the upstairs function room, and are there most Tuesdays unless we are playing away matches (a list of matches is on this page...).

As you can see, we occupy a fairly spacious room above the main bar of the Town Arms. It is a friendly club, and we always welcome new chessplayers.
